If you’ve been an internet marketer for any amount of time, then chances are that you’ve heard of Wealthy Affiliate, which is sometimes referred to as the “Wealthy Affiliate Scam“. I don’t know if you’re a member of the program or not, but I am, and I have a feeling that I know why some people think of it as a scam.
Internet marketing is different from any kind of job you might have had at any point in your life. It’s got it’s own nuances and it takes a long time to learn the ropes and understanding just what you need to do to successfully make money online. And it’s hard to stay focused because there are always other methods of making money that pop up and seem like they must be a whole lot better than whatever it is that you’re doing now.
Wealthy Affiliate teaches you how to make money online through affiliate marketing, but it takes more than a week to really learn and understand what needs to be done. In fact, on the sales page the program is compared to a college education– something that takes a while to learn but gives you the skills to support yourself for the rest of your life.
I think the part where it gets confusing is that some people do make money right away. But that’s the minority– in fact I know some extremely successful internet marketers who never made a penny until they were five months into the game. And today, they are becoming the big names in the business.
But when you’re just getting started and you see some other people making sales right away, it’s hard to remember that just like a University education, it’s not something that you can expect to happen overnight. And while WA doesn’t make claims that it will, I think that’s why some people call it the Wealthy Affiliate University Scam.
