One of the most important things that you need to do would be to create a working environment that you are happy. As such you should go out and get yourself a corner computer workstation where you can place within your house. If you have a separate room within your residence to use as an office this is great, but if not then placing it somewhere that you are comfortable is important.
The main point to make would be the idea of setting this office space somewhere where you feel comfortable working. As said, if you have a separate room then this is excellent, but if not then placing your workstation desk within your bedroom or within the living room or anywhere else where you feel comfortable will be important. Being comfortable in your workplace is very important in allowing you to work as efficiently as possible.
Once you have got your desk and chosen exactly where you are going to be working from, the next important thing to do would be to place the other relevant items that you need. This the most important will be your computer. You could choose to use a laptop, but if you are going to be working for many hours at a desk all day then using a desktop is probably a better idea as this is more ergonomically comfortable and suitable.
It is also a good idea to deck out the office space that you have designated with other items that keep you motivated. Things like pictures and posters of things that help you to stay motivated are very good ideas. For example, if you are motivated by your family then place pictures of them around your office space.
Once you have set up this idea working environment, it will then be time to build the idea of schedule to work to. The wonderful thing of working for yourself from home is the fact that you are able to set up your own working hours. These can work around your personal life, but it is crucial that you set a schedule that you can keep to and that will maximize your working efforts.
Once your schedule has been made and your working environment created, you can simply settle in to your new working life.
